Local Love Muskoka

Local Love Muskoka offers marketing and social media services to all businesses in and around Muskoka. With COVID-19 impacting small businesses so much, Mallory MacDonald wanted to help find a way to create awareness for all of these wonderful Muskoka businesses. With a background in e-commerce, specifically web design last summer, and entering her final year studying marketing at university, this is a chance to make something out of the skills and knowledge she has gained over the years.

Local Love Muskoka managed the silent auction of a handcrafted charcuterie board, in support of Kelly Shires.

  • The winning bid was $300!

We are delighted to be able to support the younger members of our own Bass Lake community as they embark on their adult lives and endeavours.

We also know that there are many 'older folk' around the lake with interesting and varied business and creative talents and we would be thrilled to also shine a light on those individuals.

  • If you or someone in your family would like to be featured here, please send us a message to basslakeweb@gmail.com and we'll post your/their details on this page.

Jim Charter’s interest in art dates back to high school.  After a long career, mostly working in marketing in the steel industry, but also as a player for the Hamilton Tiger Cats, Jim has time to pick up his interest in painting once again, and is using his job-related marketing skills to promote his work.

Jim’s art is inspired by the Group of Seven and will surely speak to residents of Bass Lake.  Some of his work may indeed look very familiar.

Graeme Rushby (also third generation on the lake) and Kayla Adams have set themselves up in the family garage workshop and are making custom crafted signs, and string art maps.

During this past COVID winter, they also turned their time to growing their own vegetables and flowering plants.  Talk to them about ordering plants for next spring.

Justin Wray Photography and Design

Justin is third generation on Bass Lake, and has been running around in the bush all around Bass Lake taking photos for most of his life.  He also enjoys taking action shots on the water and is starting to get into portraiture.

Justin took a flyer, and applied to exhibit his photos at the Muskoka Arts and Crafts Summer Show in 2019.  To his delight, he was accepted and was featured as one of their Emerging Young Artists... and also again last year... and once again this year (2021).

Justin is excited to announce that he has just been accepted into the 2021 Bala Cranberry Festival which will take place Friday to Sunday, the weekend after Thanksgiving.
